Rebels in retail 05/14/2012
 
The high street is suffering, shops are closed and their are empty retail units all across towns in the UK.

What are we going to do about it? Is the high street dead and to be left empty and decaying? Have online sales delivered the killer blow?

My old sales manager used to tell me that in every problem, in every difficult situation there is an opportunity equal to the size of the problem!

What are we going to put into these empty shops? What are we going to fill them with?

This is one of the things we are going to be tackling at the Rebel school. Finding the opportunity and taking advantage of it.

What would you do with the high street?

Maybe we will put a Rebel School on every high street in every town......

What is education teaching us?

At a recent evening event we asked a group of entrepreneurs what made them successful? What are the things that have helped them succeed in life?

The answere we got where interesting:

Resilience
Total self belief
And motivation. Lots of it. 

These were the top answers. Nothing to do with geometry, geography or history

We then asked did you learn any of them at school?!

You can guess the answer can't you?

What makes you successful? How did you learn to achieve what you have achieved?

Was it at school? In lessons or in the playground?

So if education isn't teaching us what we need to be successful then what is it teaching us and who is filling in the gaps??

As you know we have been working hard on the concept of the REBEL school for sometime now.  With this site, with the recent conversations we have had with companies and potential sponsors and with Simon and my commitment to make it happen it is now starting to take shape.

As you know one of the most important parts of any new venture is the identity, how people will see you in the market place and a big part of that is the logo or meme.  We would like your help choosing our please.

As you know we stand for:

• Enterprising spirit can be found everywhere
• People flourish and begin to live up to their full potential

We want to empower students to develop the skills and mind set to flourish in the new economy and the logo needs to reflect this whilst maintaining the REBEL idea of being outside the system!  Take a look at the logos below and please vote for your favorite.  Help us to create the REBEL school

As for the strap line we are still working on this. It is not going to be realising business potential, which is a good placeholder for the moment.
